Sluts?

The sexualization of today's generation has lead to a new breed of female; sluts. According to thefreedictionary.com, a slut is defined as a person, especially a woman, considered sexually promiscuous. A prostitute. The Urban dictionary puts it in simpler terms, a slut is a girl that’s fucked so many guys she can’t close her legs anymore. I couldn't put it better myself.
Lately it seems that the term ‘slut’ has become a term of endearment between friends with some girls even going as far as calling themselves sluts. Why? What gives someone the desire to be called a slut, to be publicly recognized as ‘promiscuous’? The simple answer is Hollywood. In many a Film one will find that the female protagonist is often surrounded (this is particularly true in the modern day teen flicks) if the protagonist happens to be female, then she will 9/10 be involved in a love triangle of some kind on the other hand, if the main character is male, then he will nearly always consort with a variety of females. The message being sent to us is that being a loose woman has become a desirable trait. ‘If you can’t beat them, join them.’ Such a mentality can surely only be a reflection of a flawed society.
